Onions are a kitchen essential, and growing from seed opens up a far wider choice of varieties than shop-bought sets. Varieties differ in flavour, colour and storage life: yellow, red and white, mild or pungent, early or long-keeping.

Sow onion seeds indoors in early spring or directly outdoors in April or May. Onions need sun, loose soil and a weed-free bed, and dislike too much nitrogen. Dry the harvest thoroughly before storing. Order onion seeds from ALLIKASILM with delivery across Estonia and the EU.
