Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow the seeds from February to March in trays lightly covered with soil (0.5 cm). Keep the temperature at 18–22 °C; seedlings emerge in 14–30 days. The seed coat is hard, so soak the seeds for 24 hours before sowing. Prick out at 2–3 true leaves and plant out in May–June, 60–80 cm apart.
Care Keep the soil lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. Water in dry spells; tolerates part shade; cover for winter.
Use Suits borders and as an architectural plant with large leathery leaves; flowers in summer.
