Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow in late April to early May 2–3 cm deep in individual pots and keep at 25–30 °C; seedlings emerge in 4–7 days.
Planting out Plant 4-week-old seedlings in a greenhouse or on a warm bed in early June once the soil has warmed, 70–100 cm apart. Cover the plants in cold weather.
Care Water moderately with warm water and reduce watering as the fruits ripen for sweeter watermelons. Limit to 2–3 fruits per plant and put a board under them.
Harvest The fruits are ripe when the tendril beside the stalk dries and a tap gives a dull sound.
