Alpine aster "Mix", 0.5 g, Toraf
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Alpine aster “Mix” (Aster alpinus) is a low, fully hardy perennial reaching up to 30 cm in flower. The mix gives plants in different colours; each stem carries a single attractive daisy-like flower head with a yellow centre.
Alpine aster flowers in early summer, usually from the second year. It suits rock gardens, the front of borders and edging. The plant prefers a sunny spot and light, free-draining soil and dislikes standing water. Clumps stay in place for years and are easy to divide.
The pack contains 0.5 g of seed, made by Toraf.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow in spring or early summer. Sow in trays in March or April, or outdoors in a seedbed in May or June, covering with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil evenly moist until germination.
Plant in the final position. Move young plants to the border or rock garden in late summer, 25-30 cm apart. On heavy clay add grit or sand to the planting hole.
Look after the clumps. Remove spent stems to keep plants tidy. Every 3-4 years divide the clumps in spring, as the old centres tend to thin out.
