When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in March–April 0.5 cm deep and keep at 18–20 °C. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in May, 25–30 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Do not grow annual asters in the same spot for 4–5 years in a row – this prevents fusarium wilt.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–September; height 60–70 cm.
