Sweet basil “Cinnamon” (Ocimum basilicum) is a cinnamon-scented basil from the Organic Way organic seed range. This fragrant annual culinary herb brings a warm, spicy note to cooking; both fresh and dried leaves and flowers are used.
Sow in the greenhouse or indoors from February to May, and outdoors in May-June. Space plants 15 x 15 cm apart. Leaves can be picked from March to August, first indoors and later outside. Basil suits beds, balcony boxes and windowsills alike.

Advice from our agronomist
Start indoors or under glass. Sow in a warm place into light seed compost and cover only very thinly. Keep the compost moist but not wet, as seedlings easily collapse when overwatered.
Give space and sun. Plant 15 x 15 cm apart in a sunny spot, moving plants outdoors only once the nights are warm. Water at the base, less often but thoroughly.
Harvest before flowering. The cinnamon scent is strongest before the flower buds open. For drying, cut shoots in dry weather and dry them in the shade.
