Sweet basil "Genovese", 0.8 g, Baltic Agro
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Sweet basil “Genovese” (Ocimum basilicum) is the classic large-leaved Italian basil, widely regarded as the best basil for making pesto. The aromatic leaves are used fresh or dried in salads and sauces.
It needs a warm, sunny and sheltered position and also grows happily on a windowsill. Basil is frost-tender, so it goes outdoors only after the last night frosts. Seeds germinate in 1-2 weeks. Successional sowings give a steady supply of fresh leaves all season.
The pack contains 0.8 g of seed, made by Baltic Agro.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow onto moist compost. Scatter the seed over damp seed compost and cover only with a thin layer of vermiculite or sand. Keep the tray warm until seedlings emerge in 1-2 weeks.
Sow little and often. For a continuous harvest, start a fresh batch every 2-3 weeks. Turn windowsill pots now and then so plants grow evenly instead of leaning towards the light.
Pick from the shoot tips. Cut the tips together with a pair of leaves so the plant branches and produces more foliage. Water in the morning and never let the compost dry out.
