Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in February–March on the soil surface (they need light), covered with only a thin layer of soil and keep at 22–25 °C. Seeds germinate in 2–3 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in early June, once the night frosts are over, 20–25 cm apart. Choose a semi-shaded spot.
Care Water regularly, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. The seeds need light to germinate – do not cover them with soil; the plant is frost-tender.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in June–September; height 30 cm.
