Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow in mid April to early May 5–8 cm deep and 10–15 cm apart in rows 40–50 cm apart; seedlings emerge in 10–14 days. Broad beans tolerate light frost.
Care Water in dry weather, especially during flowering. Pinch out the tips once the lower pods have set to reduce aphid damage.
Harvest Pick the pods once they have filled but are still tender; dry the beans if you want to store them.
