Advice from our agronomist
When to sow. Sow for seedlings in late March – mid-April at 1 cm depth and 18–20 °C; after emergence keep seedlings cooler (10–12 °C) and prick out at 2 true leaves.
Planting. Plant seedlings out in mid-May at the 5–6-leaf stage, 40 × 50 cm apart; water well after planting and cover if frost threatens.
Care. Water regularly (especially during head formation), loosen the soil and earth up the plants. Protect against pests (cabbage fly, flea beetles) with fleece.
Feeding and harvest. Feed with nitrogen two weeks after planting and potassium during head formation. Cut the central head while the buds are still tight; side shoots give an extra crop.
