Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in February–March 0.5 cm deep and keep at 15–18 °C. Seeds germinate in 3–4 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in May–June, 30–40 cm apart. Choose a semi-shaded spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Seeds germinate better after 2–4 weeks of cold stratification in the fridge; it usually blooms from the second year.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in May–June; height 70–80 cm. A hardy perennial.
