When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in March–April on the soil surface (they need light), covered with only a thin layer of soil and keep at 18–22 °C. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in late May, 30–40 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Do not over-fertilise – the plant prefers poorer, well-drained soil.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–September; height 60 cm. A perennial; renew every 3–4 years.
