About this product
Conifer and thuja compost is a slightly acidic planting substrate for thujas, spruces, pines, junipers and other conifers. Conifer roots want two things at once: an acidic environment and air around the roots — ordinary heavy garden soil provides neither.
The compost holds moisture but never turns to mush, so the newly planted tree is not left standing in stagnant water. It also contains a starter fertiliser that supports rooting during the first weeks. The same compost is suitable for planting hedges and for repotting container-grown conifers.

Advice from our agronomist
Do not plant too deep. The root collar must stay level with the soil: a conifer buried too deep yellows from below and dies back from the top.
Water in autumn until the ground freezes. Conifers lose moisture in winter too, but roots draw nothing from frozen soil — the water has to be there beforehand.
Mulch with bark. A bark layer holds moisture, keeps weeds down and acidifies as it breaks down — exactly what a conifer wants.
