About this product
Ornamental kale “Curled Leaved” (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) is an ornamental form of leaf kale grown for its curly, frilled leaves. The plant reaches up to 30 cm and forms a lush rosette.
Ornamental kale is a biennial grown as an annual. It looks its best in autumn: cool nights intensify the leaf colours, and light frosts do it no harm. It brightens autumn beds, edging, balcony boxes and patio pots well into late autumn.
The pack contains 0.3 g of seed, made by KURZEMES SĒKLAS.

Advice from our agronomist
Raise plants indoors. Sow in late March or April about 1 cm deep and keep seedlings bright and cool at +12-16 °C so they do not stretch.
Plant out in late May. Set hardened-off plants into the bed or large pots 30-40 cm apart. Kale needs rich soil and even watering; in drought the leaves toughen and the plants stay smaller.
Protect from pests. Cover young plants with fine mesh, as flea beetles and cabbage white caterpillars target brassicas. In autumn remove yellowing lower leaves.
