About this product
Ornamental cabbage “Fringed Leaves” (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) is an annual ornamental whose colourful leaves with fringed edges form a lush, full plant. It grows to 30-40 cm, and the pack contains a mix of colours.
The cabbage is at its finest in late summer and stays decorative until the first snow, as cold weather only deepens the leaf colours. It brightens the garden from July to November. Use it in flower beds, groups and containers. It prefers sun but tolerates shade, and likes moist, fertile loam or sandy loam.
The pack contains 0.3 g of seed, made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Raise transplants. Sow in April into small pots, 0.5-1 cm deep. Cabbage seedlings need plenty of light and cool conditions (+12-16 °C), otherwise they become leggy.
Plant out in May or June. Move plants into the bed in late May or June at 20 x 40 cm. Water regularly and feed a couple of times over summer to keep the plants dense.
Wait for the cold. Do not rush to clear the plants in autumn: night frosts deepen the leaf colour and the bed stays attractive into November. Protect young plants from cabbage white caterpillars.
