Coleus “Chocolate Rose” (Coleus blumei) is a perennial grown here as an annual ornamental, both in the garden and indoors. Coleus is prized above all for its colourful decorative foliage; the variety name points to chocolate and rose tones in the leaves.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow each seed separately. With only a few seeds, place them one by one in small pots on moist compost in March or April, leave uncovered and keep under film at +20-22 °C. They need light to germinate.
Move outdoors only in June. Coleus is very frost-tender: plant out once night frosts are over, after hardening off for a few days.
Pinch and remove flower spikes. Pinching the tips makes plants bushy. Snap off flower spikes as soon as they appear to keep the foliage lush.
