Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow directly in the bed in April–May on the soil surface, covered with only a thin layer of soil, rows 30–40 cm apart. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.
Sowing Thin the plants to 20–30 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. The seeds need light to germinate – do not cover them with soil.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in June–August; height 50–80 cm. A hardy perennial; self-seeds.
