When to sow Sow directly in the bed in mid-May 1–2 cm deep, rows 30–40 cm apart. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.

Sowing Thin the plants to 20–30 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.

Care Water regularly, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Soak the seeds in warm water for 12–24 hours before sowing; the plant needs a support. The seeds are poisonous.

Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–September; height 200–300 cm.
