Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow the seeds in April–May directly in the bed lightly covered with soil (0.5 cm). Keep the temperature at 15–20 °C; seedlings emerge in 5–14 days. Prick out at 2–3 true leaves and plant out in May–June, 25–30 cm apart.
Care Keep the soil lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. Deadhead faded flowers to prolong bloom; feed every 2 weeks.
Use A medicinal and ornamental plant for beds and cutting; the petals are also used as a food colouring and in salves.
