Good fresh in salads, braised, in soups and borscht, and for sauerkraut; later varieties keep well in winter storage.

Advice from our agronomist
When to sow. Sow for seedlings in mid to late March at 1 cm depth and 18–20 °C; after emergence keep seedlings cooler (10–12 °C) and prick out at 2 true leaves.
Planting. Plant seedlings out in mid-May at the 5–6-leaf stage, 40 × 50 cm apart; water well after planting and cover if frost threatens.
Care. Water regularly (especially during head formation), loosen the soil and earth up the plants. Protect against pests (cabbage fly, flea beetles) with fleece.
Feeding and harvest. Feed with nitrogen two weeks after planting and potassium during head formation. Cut the first heads from early July once they are firm.
