Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow directly in the bed in autumn on the soil surface, covered with only a thin layer of soil, rows 40–50 cm apart. Seeds germinate in 4–8 weeks.
Sowing Thin the plants to 60–80 cm apart. Choose a semi-shaded spot.
Care Water regularly, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. The seeds germinate slowly and unevenly and need cold stratification; the plant develops slowly in the first years.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–September; height 150–200 cm. A hardy perennial; grows slowly.
