Lobelia “Blue” (Lobelia erinus) is an annual reaching up to 30 cm in flower. As the name says, the plant is smothered in small blue flowers that form a dense cushion of colour and combine beautifully with white and yellow summer bedding.
Lobelia flowers from June into autumn as long as the plants are not allowed to dry out. It suits balcony boxes, hanging baskets, pots, edging and graves. It thrives in sun or part shade in loose, moist soil. The fine seed is sown indoors as early as February or March.
The pack contains 0.1 g of seed, made by Toraf.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow on the surface. Lobelia seed is dust-fine: mix it with sand, scatter over moist compost in February or March and leave uncovered. Keep under film at +18-22 °C in good light.
Prick out in clumps. Move seedlings in small groups of 4-6 for bushier plants. Water carefully from below, as young seedlings rot easily if too wet.
Cut back after the first flush. Plant out after the frosts. If flowering fades in midsummer, cut plants back by half, feed and water, and they will soon bloom again.
