Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in March–April or directly in the bed from late April to July, 0.5–1 cm deep, rows 20–25 cm apart. Seeds germinate in 2–3 weeks.
Sowing Thin or plant out at 15–20 cm apart. Suits both the vegetable patch and the flower bed, in a bright spot.
Care Water regularly and keep weed-free. The plant stays in one place for 2–3 (up to 5) years, then divide the clump because the leaves turn coarse.
Feeding and harvest Feed with compost in spring. Cut the greens from June to September at 3–5 cm; when flowering the plant forms spherical violet-pink flower heads, which are also edible.
