Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in March–April on the soil surface (they need light), covered with only a thin layer of soil and keep at 18–20 °C. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in late May, 15–20 cm apart. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded spot.
Care Water regularly, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Sown in June–July it blooms the following spring; an early spring sowing may also bloom the same year.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in April–June; height 10–15 cm. A biennial or short-lived perennial; self-seeds readily.
