When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in February–April on the soil surface (they need light), covered with only a thin layer of soil and keep at 15–20 °C. Seeds germinate in 2–3 weeks.

Planting out Plant the seedlings out in late May, 40–50 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.

Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Divide large clumps every 3–4 years to keep the plant vigorous.

Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in June–August; height 80–100 cm. A hardy perennial.
