Calcium nitrate 1 kg
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Calcium nitrate (nitrate of lime, Ca(NO₃)₂) — a water-soluble fertiliser that supplies calcium and nitrogen together. Calcium in particular is something plants cannot always take up from the soil: it moves only with the flow of water and reaches poorly the places where there is lots of foliage and fast evaporation.
This leads to the best-known problem — blossom end rot in tomatoes and peppers, when the bottom end of the fruit turns brown and leathery. The same cause lies behind tip burn in cabbage and bitter pit in apples. Calcium nitrate is a quick remedy: it is fully soluble and works within a couple of days.
The pack contains 1 kg.

Advice from our agronomist
Do not mix with phosphate or sulfate fertilisers. In one tank they form an insoluble precipitate and the calcium never reaches the plant. Apply them separately.
Act early against blossom end rot. Spray the foliage as soon as the first fruits set — a fruit already gone brown will not recover.
Water evenly. Calcium moves only with water: if the soil swings between bone dry and flooded, even the best fertiliser will not help.
