Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow in late April to early May 1–2 cm deep in rows 30–40 cm apart; use only fresh seed, as germination drops quickly. Seedlings emerge in 14–28 days. Thin to 8–10 cm.
Care Prefers deep, loose, stone-free soil; water in dry spells and keep the bed weed-free. The leaf sap can irritate skin, so wear gloves.
Harvest Lift the roots in October–November; frost makes them sweeter. They can stay in the ground over winter and be lifted as needed.
