Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in February–March on the soil surface (they need light), covered with only a thin layer of soil and keep at 18–20 °C. Seeds germinate in 2–3 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in late May, 30–40 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Protect the plant with spruce branches or mulch for winter – it may not survive a harsh one.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–October; height 80 cm. A perennial; give light cover for winter.
