Seedling tray without holes — a sturdy black tray measuring 55.5 × 30 × 6.5 cm. With no holes in the base, water stays in the tray: the windowsill and shelf stay dry and the tray doubles as a container for bottom watering.
Bottom watering is the gentlest method for seedlings: water rises into pots and pellets through their base, the top layer of compost does not crust over and delicate shoots do not flop. The size is standard, so the tray takes ordinary seed-raising cell trays, coir pellets and small pots.

Advice from our agronomist
Water from below. Pour 1-2 cm of water into the tray and let it soak up for 15-20 minutes; pour off what is left.
Do not leave water standing. In a constantly wet tray roots start to rot and mould appears — let the tray dry between waterings.
Wash it after the season. Rinse and dry the tray in autumn so disease does not carry over to next spring seedlings.
