Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow directly in the bed from late August to September, 2–3 cm deep. Sowing rate: about 15–20 g/m².
Sowing Scatter the seed evenly and rake it in. Rye grows well even on nutrient-poor soils and quickly forms a large above-ground mass.
Care Water during germination in dry weather. The plant overwinters in the bed and also suppresses weeds through root exudates.
Use Dig the plants in in spring before the ears form (April–May) and wait 2–3 weeks before sowing the next crop. No feeding is needed.
