Advice from our agronomist
When to sow. Sow for seedlings in late February – early March on the soil surface (seeds germinate in light) at 20–22 °C; germination takes 2–3 weeks.
Planting. Prick out seedlings at 2 true leaves. Plant out in mid-May, 30 × 40 cm apart, without burying the crown – otherwise the roots stay small.
Care. Water generously and evenly, mulch the soil; remove side roots and lower leaves, but do not cut the central leaves.
Feeding and harvest. Feed every 2–3 weeks with a complete fertiliser. Harvest roots in September – October before hard frosts; store at 0–2 °C.
