Advice from our agronomist
When to sow. Sow seeds for seedlings from late February to mid-March 0.5–1 cm deep in light peat-based compost; germination needs 25–28 °C and takes 1–2 weeks.
Planting. Prick out seedlings at the 2–3 true-leaf stage into individual pots. Plant into a greenhouse in the second half of May, outdoors in early June after the last frost, spaced 40 × 50 cm; cover plants on cold nights.
Care. Low-growing plants need no pruning. Water with warm water at the roots, regularly but not excessively; peppers dislike sudden temperature swings. Support the branches if the fruits get heavy.
Feeding and harvest. Feed every 10–14 days with a complete fertiliser, switching to a potassium-rich one when fruits set. Pick regularly – at technical maturity (green) or fully ripe, once the fruits have taken on the variety’s colour.
