Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow in spring (late April to May) or before winter 1–2 cm deep in rows 30–40 cm apart; seedlings emerge in 14–21 days. Caraway is biennial: a leaf rosette forms in the first year and it flowers in the second.
Care Thin to 15–20 cm and keep the bed weed-free. It grows in a sunny spot even on poorer soil and is frost-hardy.
Harvest Harvest the seeds in the second year when the umbels turn brown; cut the stalks, dry them and thresh out the seeds.
