About this product

Pumpkin Butternut is a mid-early variety; the fruit is pear-shaped, weighing about 1.5–2 kg; for an earlier harvest grow from seedlings, and for the largest fruits leave only 1–2 per plant.

Pumpkin flesh makes soups, bakes, pies, porridge and desserts; the fruits keep well in winter.

Grow in a greenhouse or open ground. Pack contains 5 g of seeds, produced by Toraf.

Advice from our agronomist

When to sow. Sow for seedlings in late April in 8–10 cm pots at 3–4 cm depth and 20–25 °C, or directly outdoors in late May once the soil has warmed to at least 12–15 °C.

Planting. Plant seedlings out in early June in a sunny spot with rich soil; spacing 100 × 100 cm. Cover plants with fleece if frost threatens.

Care. Water with warm water at the roots. To grow the pumpkin as large as possible, leave only 1–2 fruits per plant and remove the other buds.

Feeding and harvest. Feed with organic or complete fertiliser every 2–3 weeks. Harvest fruits in September before frost, when the skin is hard and the stalk dry; store in a cool, dry place.
