Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow in late May to early June, when the soil has warmed to at least 12 °C, 3–4 cm deep and 5–8 cm apart in rows 40–50 cm apart. Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days. Sow 2–3 times two weeks apart to extend the harvest.
Care Water regularly, especially during flowering and pod set, and keep the bed weed-free. Beans enrich the soil with nitrogen, so no nitrogen fertiliser is needed.
Harvest Pick the pods young and often, before the beans fully develop; frequent picking prolongs cropping.
