Advice from our agronomist
When to sow Sow the seeds for seedlings in April 0.5–1 cm deep and keep at 20–25 °C. Seeds germinate in 1–2 weeks.
Planting out Plant the seedlings out in early June, once the night frosts are over, 30–40 cm apart. Choose a sunny spot.
Care Water moderately, more in dry spells, and keep the bed weed-free. Do not sow too early – seedlings grow fast; water only the soil, not the leaves, to avoid powdery mildew.
Feeding and flowering Feed 1–2 times with a flowering-plant fertiliser and remove faded flowers – this prolongs flowering. Flowers in July–September; height 15–30 cm.
