Sowing Sow the seeds in April–May directly in the bed lightly covered with soil (0.5 cm). Keep the temperature at 15–20 °C; seedlings emerge in 10–14 days. Prick out at 2–3 true leaves and plant out in May–June, 20–25 cm apart.

Care Keep the soil lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. Thrives in dry soil; do not transplant as the roots are sensitive. The seed pods suit dried arrangements.

Use Pretty in mixed borders, for cutting and dried bouquets; the seeds are also used as a spice.
