Advice from our agronomist

When to sow. Sow from April to May or in late July directly in the bed at 1 cm depth, rows 30 cm apart; late-autumn sowing before winter also works.

Sowing. Thin plants to 8–10 cm apart. Sorrel is a perennial and stays 3–4 years in one place; choose a semi-shaded or sunny spot with moist soil.

Care. Water regularly to keep the leaves tender; cut off flower stalks so the plant does not turn coarse. Loosen between rows and weed.

Feeding and harvest. Feed with nitrogen in spring. Cut the first leaves about 40 days after emergence, then repeatedly through the season – one of the earliest spring greens.
