Lisianthus “Arena 3 Purple” F1 (Eustoma grandiflorum) is an F1 hybrid with purple flowers, grown as an annual. Its elegant, rose-like blooms last a long time in the vase, making lisianthus a prized cut flower.
Lisianthus develops very slowly: seed is sown indoors in late winter, and flowering follows in the second half of summer. The plant needs a warm, sunny position and suits the greenhouse, a sheltered bed and large containers. The dust-fine seed is not covered with soil.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow early, on the surface. In January or February place the seeds one by one on moist seed compost, leave uncovered and keep under film in good light at +20-24 °C. Water only with a mister.
Be patient. Seedlings grow very slowly for the first weeks. Prick them out carefully at two pairs of leaves, and plant out only after the frosts, in early June, 15-20 cm apart.
Support and cut. The long stems need support. Water moderately, as waterlogging causes root rot. Cut the stems for the vase once the first flowers have opened.
