About this product

Lisianthus “Carmen Lilac” F1 (Eustoma grandiflorum) is an F1 hybrid grown as an annual. Lisianthus is one of the most elegant cut flowers: blue-green leaves and large bell-shaped blooms on strong stems recall both a rose and a poppy, and look lovely in beds, pots and bouquets.

Lisianthus has a long growing season: it takes around 5-6 months from seed to flower, so sowing starts as early as December to February. It flowers in the second half of summer. It grows well in a sunny, sheltered spot and under glass; cut stems last a long time in the vase.

The pack contains 5 seeds.

Advice from our agronomist

Do not cover the seed. Lisianthus seed is tiny and needs light to germinate: place it on moist compost, cover with film and keep at +20-24 °C. Water with a mister so the seed is not washed down.

Be patient with seedlings. For the first months they grow very slowly; keep them in good light and never let the compost dry out or become waterlogged.

Plant out in June. After the frosts set plants 15-20 cm apart. Taller stems need support.
