Sowing Sow the seeds from March to April in trays or in a greenhouse lightly covered with soil (0.5 cm). Keep the temperature at 18–22 °C; seedlings emerge in 10–21 days. Cold stratification (2–4 weeks in the fridge) improves germination. Prick out at 2–3 true leaves and plant out in May–June, 40–50 cm apart.

Care Keep the soil lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. Water in dry spells; undemanding and drought-tolerant. Remove spent blooms or leave them in autumn for the birds.

Use Suits borders, cut flowers and pollinators. Usually flowers in the second year, sometimes in the first summer.
