Purple coneflower "PolyNation TM Yellow" Baltic Agro 5 seeds

• Species: Echinacea — coneflower, perennial
• Variety: "PollyNation™ Yellow" — yellow rays, dark centre
• Note: FastraX — flowers in its first year
• Height: 65 cm
• Producer: Baltic Agro (Estonia)
• Pack: 5 seeds
• Sowing: February
• Flowering: July — September
• Site: sunny and warm, drought tolerant

Sow in February. To flower in its first year the coneflower needs a long growing season; a late sowing gives only a rosette the first year.

Sun. The yellow form is even more sensitive to shade than the white: in poor light the flowers go pale and the stems weak.

Soil. Drainage matters more here than fertility. On heavy clay plant it high or add sand to the hole.

Seed heads for winter. Leave them standing: the dark cones above snow are one of the best winter sights, and birds take the seed.

Division. Divide the clump after three or four years in spring, once the new shoots are visible.
