Advice from our agronomist
Sowing Sow the seeds from March to April in trays or in a greenhouse lightly covered with soil (0.5 cm). Keep the temperature at 18–22 °C; seedlings emerge in 10–21 days. Cold stratification (2–4 weeks in the fridge) improves germination. Prick out at 2–3 true leaves and plant out in May–June, 40–50 cm apart.
Care Keep the soil lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. Water in dry spells; undemanding and drought-tolerant.
Use Suits borders, cut flowers and pollinators; its yellow flowers set it apart from the purple coneflower.
