Acer shirasawanum

About this product
Full-moon maple Acer shirasawanum is a small tree or large shrub with a rounded crown and fan-shaped, 9–11-lobed leaves that turn golden-orange to red in autumn. A fine choice for a Japanese-style garden or a shady corner – maple trees for sale in our nursery.
In Estonia the plant needs a semi-shaded spot sheltered from wind and dry winter sun, with humus-rich, slightly acidic, moist but well-drained soil. Young plants may lose shoot tips in a hard winter, so mulch the base and cover them if needed. Ask us in the shop for the exact plant size.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in spring in a semi-shaded, wind-sheltered spot in humus-rich soil; avoid waterlogging and deep shade. In a container choose a large pot with drainage.
Care Keep the soil evenly moist but not wet, and mulch the roots. A slow-release feed in spring is enough. Prune only when needed, and remove frost-damaged tips in spring.
Use Works as a specimen, a foliage accent, in rock and Japanese-style gardens, or in a large pot on a terrace.
