About this product
Clarence is a two-tone bearded iris: the upper petals are white with a lilac tint, the lower ones light blue-violet with a white centre, and the beard is cream.
It has a sweet scent, which not every bearded iris does. Height 89 cm, mid-season bloom. It is registered as a rebloomer, with reblooming confirmed in Belgium and the Netherlands; in Estonia it is possible but not guaranteed. Hardy in Estonia without cover (USDA 3–9). Bred by Lloyd Zurbrigg, 1990. Awards: Honorable Mention 1995, Award of Merit 1997, Wister Medal 2000.

Advice from our agronomist
The top of the rhizome must stay exposed. This is the key rule for bearded iris: set the rhizome at soil level with its back visible. A buried rhizome will not flower and starts to rot.
Spread the roots downwards. Firm the soil around them and water in.
Full sun. In shade there will be no flowers, and disease takes hold.
Drainage is essential. Standing water means bacterial rhizome rot. On heavy clay, plant in a raised bed.
Keep the rhizome's back clear over the years. Mulch and soil washed over it act as extra depth, and flowering fades away.
Divide every 3–5 years, in July or August. A congested clump stops flowering.
