About this product
Coriander (cilantro) is an annual culinary and medicinal herb, Coriandrum sativum. The seeds are from the Lithuanian company Nojaus sėklos, 2 g per packet. Buy coriander seeds in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Young leaves go into salads, soups and meat dishes, while the seeds flavour bread, pickles and marinades. Both are rich in antioxidants. Plants reach 40–60 cm; leaves can be cut about a month after emergence and seeds ripen in July–August.
Coriander is cold-tolerant and grows in sun or partial shade, best in light sandy loam in an open spot. For a steady supply of leaves, sow several times a season. It self-seeds readily.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Sow coriander directly outdoors from April, 1.5–2 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings to 5–10 cm. For a continuous leaf supply, sow again every 3–4 weeks until July.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly, especially in hot weather: in dry soil coriander bolts quickly. Fertile soil needs no feeding; add compost to poor soil before sowing.
Care. Weed and hoe between rows. Cut leaves before the flower stem appears – after that they become coarse and the taste changes. For seed, leave some plants until the umbels turn brown.
Gardener's tip. Make summer sowings in partial shade – long days and heat make coriander flower sooner. Cut seed heads when most seeds have turned brown and finish drying them in a paper bag.
