Giant hyssop "Rosie Posie" is a compact perennial of the mint family with bright pink flower spikes and anise-scented leaves, a hybrid bred by Walters Gardens (USA). Buy Agastache in a 9 cm or 2 L pot in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Height 45–55 cm, spread 60–75 cm. Flowers from July to September: lavender-pink flowers sit in deep purple calyces that stay attractive after the petals drop. The leaves smell of anise and can be used for tea.
A top pollinator plant attracting bees, bumblebees and butterflies, and deer resistant. For sunny borders, gravel gardens, rockeries and containers, cut and dried flowers. Needs dry, sharply drained soil; in Estonia it overwinters with good drainage and a dry winter cover.

Planting. Plant in spring or early summer in the sunniest spot. Add sand or grit to heavy clay: winter wet harms Agastache more than cold.
Watering and feeding. Drought tolerant once established; water only in long heat. No feeding needed – on rich soil the stems flop.
Care. Deadhead spent spikes to prolong flowering. Leave stems over winter to protect the crown and cut back in spring as new shoots appear. Divide in spring every 3–4 years.
Winter. The official hardiness zone is 6, so in Estonia good drainage and a dry cover of spruce branches or fleece are important. Move container plants to a cool, light room for winter.
