• How: spread evenly, mix into the soil, then water
• Storage: dry, in a closed pack, out of reach of children

When to feed. In spring once the soil has thawed; again a month later; a third time at the end of July. Stop in August — late nitrogen pushes soft shoots that will not ripen before winter.

How to feed. Spread evenly, rake 3–5 cm into the soil and water. A granule left dry on the surface does nothing and burns any leaf it lands on.

How much. Less rather than more: an overfed plant runs to leaf and is open to disease, and the surplus washes into groundwater. A big pack makes it easy to overdo — measure the bed and weigh the dose.

At planting. Never tip granules into the hole onto bare roots. Mix into the soil beforehand, or feed a week after planting.

Storage. An opened 4 kg bag draws moisture and the granules cake. Keep it dry, close it tightly, or pour the remainder into a lidded bucket.

What to avoid. Dry soil — fertiliser burns roots. Water before and after. Do not use it in autumn: this is a spring and summer feed.
