A low, about 15 cm tall creeping perennial that forms a dense carpet. It flowers in May–June and the foliage is ornamental all season. Attractive to bees.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in part shade in moist, well-drained soil, 25–30 cm apart. Hot midday sun can scorch the leaves.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially in the first summer. Add a little compost in spring.
Care. Remove flower stems after flowering. Cut out or replant runners that spread too far, and remove plain green shoots to keep the variegation.
Winter. Hardy and usually needs no cover; in snowless winters a light leaf mulch protects the foliage.
