About this product
Aloe vera (Aloe vera, syn. Aloe barbadensis) is an evergreen succulent whose thick, fleshy leaves form an attractive rosette. Inside the leaves is a jelly-like gel that has traditionally been used in skin care.
It is an easy-going houseplant that needs bright light, little water and free-draining cactus compost. It is not frost-hardy, so it lives indoors all year round, although in a warm summer the pot can go outside.
Grow it on a sunny windowsill, in a conservatory or on a balcony in summer. Its clean shape and grey-green foliage suit both modern and natural interiors.

Advice from our agronomist
Water rarely but thoroughly. Let the compost dry out completely between waterings, then water until it runs from the drainage holes. In winter, watering about once a month is enough.
Choose the right pot. Use a pot with drainage holes and cactus compost, as standing water leads to root rot. Repot in spring once the rosette has outgrown its container.
Acclimatise to sun. When moving the plant outside for summer, start it in light shade, or the leaves may scorch. Bring the pot back in before the nights turn cool.
